The organic vegetables mix is a good source of vitamins, minerals and trace elements as well as secondary plant substances and dietary fibre.
These ingredients are produced through controlled organic cultivation.
In principle, freshly prepared vegetables are preferable for your dog’s diet and we assume that the vegetable mixture is not used to completely replace fresh vegetables. In our opinion, there is no harm in feeding the vegetable mixture to your dog on a daily basis but fresh food is much more nutritious.
The composition of the mixture was designed by BARF proQ so as to contain as many nutrients as are important for the dog to obtain from the plant-based part of their diet. These include, in particular, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, secondary plant ingredients and dietary fibre. The following are the outstanding properties of the individual vegetable varieties:
Carrots are an excellent source of carotenoids, dietary fibre and vitamin C, while courgettes are known mostly for their high content of vitamin B1. Broccoli contains not only high amounts of vitamin K but also lots of selenium. Broccoli is also rich in vitamin C, E, B6 and pantothenic acid as well as calcium, zinc and manganese. Spinach provides potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese and zinc and contains vitamin B2 and folic acid. Asparagus is a good source of copper, nicotinamide as well as sterols.
The main nutrition of a dog on a BARF diet is primarily meat and bones. The vegetable mixture serves only as a supplement and is fed accordingly in relatively small amounts. No problems should arise with a daily portion of the vegetable mixture.
